Livestock Guardian Dogs

 

These dogs truly guard livestock by protecting them from predators (2 legged & 4 legged).  They are NOT herding dogs and do not chase the goats or direct them in any way.

 

"Sparky"

Sparky is a Great Pyrenees/Maremma cross.  He helps protect our perimeter fences and is great at barking anytime he senses anything unusual plus he's very gentle with the babies.  He was born in 2005 and is the head dog in charge.

 

"Peek-a-Boo"

Peek-a-boo is 3/4 Karakachan & 1/4 Great Pyrenees.  She was born in 2010 and came to us all the way from Indiana.  She is a great guardian of our bucks and an awesome night-time guardian as well.

"Mercy"Mercy is a full Great Pyrenees born 2011.  Of our three Livestock Guaridian Dogs she is the first to bark and alert to anything out of the ordinary.  She still has a lot of puppy in her, but has the makings of being an awesome guardian.

In Memory of Glory

Glory was an Anatolian Shepherd/Great Pyrenees cross.  Wherever the herd went you could be sure Glory would be right there with them.

Sadly Glory passed away during a terrible lightning storm summer 2010.  Job well done old girl, rest in peace.
